The probability of a slump is super-short lived

Dec 21, 2021

Good morning!

The probability of a slump is super-short lived which is why you want to play offense every chance you get.

Every chance.

Here’s my playbook.

1 – There’s no need to dump your stocks

The temptation to dump everything is very real especially when there’s concerted selling and seemingly no place to hide.

Only that’s not true.

The markets can and will mount a comeback when you least expect it.

The buying almost always starts with companies making goods and services the world cannot live without. Then accelerates … leaving many investors who think they’ll put one over on “Mr. Market” with a head-spinning case of FOMO on the sidelines.

History is exceptionally clear on this.

Take Pfizer (PFE), for example.

The stock is up a jaw dropping 68.66% since I recommended it to the One Bar Ahead™ Family this past February and climbing versus a still respectable but far less 18.34% from the S&P 500 over the same time frame.

I hear frequently from people who think they can’t beat the markets but that’s poppycock.

The best stocks never go out of style. Moreover, contrary to what a generation of investors has been led to believe, finding them can help any investor beat the markets over time.

If you know how to pick companies like this and when to make your move, my hat is off to you. If not and you’d like some help, I’ll toss my hat in the ring. I’ve got my eye on 5 more companies just like Pfizer for 2022. (Learn more).

2 – This stock could be a Door-Dash killer

Very few people have ever heard of Getir, an essential deliveries service that started in Turkey just six years ago and which took Europe by storm last year. The company’s yellow and purple liveried vehicles are buzzing around Chicago, NY and Boston already with plans to expand into other US markets next year. The economics of delivery are ultra-challenging and is more like a war of attrition at first, but I think Getir may just have the edge and the deep pockets needed to gain sustainable footing. 3 – Disney videos return to YouTube TV

It’s been a gigantic donnybrook with Disney and Alphabet resolving a dispute over carriage fees that had resulted in a temporary blackout last weekend because they had not reached a deal. Amazing what an incentive profits can be!! (Read)

4 – $3 billion reasons this could be a big winner in 2022

Starbucks noted that it expects to see $3 billion loaded onto gift cards this holiday season. I find that amazing because I recall the very first gift cards in 1994 when company management created ‘em to spread the word about “just” a few thousand locations. Now you’re talking 33,833 stores worldwide and 46 million gift cards on the loose. (Read)

People think about SBUX in terms of coffee, but it’s really a bank in disguise.
