☕️ This should be getting way more attention than the Cybercab’s paint job

Sep 04, 2026

Howdy! 👋

Happy FriYAY!

I’m pressed for time this morning as there are a lot of moving parts around here…

… down markets = more opportunity

… the right tactics = higher profit potential

… a new One Bar Ahead® issue out later today = new research

… an important new update ahead with somebody incredible who you know and love as much as I do = new actionable information!

Meanwhile, and as I scan the headlines to find the usual predictable barnyard brouhaha of short-term thinking, doomsayers and nervous nellies, I’m reminded of something the legendary Warren Buffett penned in his 1992 shareholder letter.

“Short-term market forecasts are poison and should be kept locked up in a safe place, away from children and also from grown-ups who behave in the market like children.”

Yep.

1 – What the jobs report means for your money – 3 key takeaways

I sat down with the venerable David Asman this morning for a chat about the latest jobs markets, AI and more. There are three key takeaways at hand — all of which could be great for smart investors. (Watch)

2 – What you’re not hearing about Tesla’s Cybercab reveal could be the biggest news of all

Tesla hosted its exclusive Cybercab reveal event this week, and the Cybercab — the two-seat, no-steering-wheel, no-pedal robotaxi — has now moved from "someday" to "in service" on the streets of Austin. (Watch)

Interestingly not one of the folks who nastily told me that this would never happen – and worse – has had the courtesy to apologize but I guess that’s the world we live in and a topic for another time.

This is undeniably the future of transportation and that’s super tough for me to acknowledge given that I’ve been a gearhead who loves driving all my life.

I’m struck by how well executed this appears to be.

The Cybercab not only has butterfly doors for easier entry and exit, but it was designed with specialized input from a wide variety of super critical users including disability groups, senior advocacy groups and first responders. It’s even got Braille on the doors and buttons, for example.

We already know this is going to be a life changer for accessibility and independence.

But here’s what should be getting more attention than the paint job.

In fact, I think it could be the biggest news of all and – par for the course – the mainstream media has glossed over it almost entirely.

The motor runs on zero rare earth metals and still hits the same range as before which means that a) Tesla’s just solved one of the nastiest supply chain headaches in the entire EV industry — the one tied to Chinese mining dominance — without giving up performance and b) that the entire “lithium trade” that’s been the bread and butter for an entire generation of clickbait artists is at risk.

What’s more and in something that I have told you about for more than a decade, it’s at the heart of the “Muskconomy” story. Every Cybercab has Starlink built into the roof for connectivity. It runs Grok as the voice assistant handling your music, climate, and cabin settings and so on. It taps into an unbelievable amount of data that only Tesla has, charging and more.

MyPOV: Most people still don’t get it and don’t realize how much of a game changer this really is and that’s too bad. There is no doubt in my mind that it’s a gift for investors who do.

3 – US Treasuries: This isn’t so scary if you know what’s actually happening

The world's biggest sovereign wealth fund just told Norway's government it wants to cut its government bond allocation from 70% to 50% — which would knock its U.S. Treasury holdings down from 34.1% to 21.9%. (Read)

Right on cue, the headlines seem to imply that it’s “dumping” US treasuries which is, of course, what the headline mongers want you to think so they get your eyeballs.

Not.

Norway’s fund is rebalancing into corporate bonds, mortgage-backed securities, and more Japanese government debt.

In fact, Norway isn't fleeing America — it's doing what any $2.3 trillion fund should do when investments move beyond their target allocations and intended risk parameters — taking some chips off one table and spreading them around just like you and I would to rebalance.

I wish the sensationalists would write headlines that match reality, but clickbait apparently pays better than accuracy. 🤦‍♂️

4 – This just in from the department of can’t beat ‘em so let’s ban ‘em

Here we go again.

The Alliance for Automotive Innovation — representing most of the companies selling cars in the US — is urging Congress to make a permanent ban on Chinese connected vehicles, hardware, and software the law of the land before this session ends. (Read)

John Bozzella, the Alliance's CEO, claims the Chinese are dumping subsidized vehicles with connected software and hardware around the world. He then goes on to note that the goal is to "achieve a balanced policy so all our member companies continue to succeed and thrive inside the U.S."

Here's a novel idea.💡

How about producing cars that are so good customers are falling all over themselves to buy… at price points they find appealing… and with technology that works.

It's the oldest game in the book.

If the automakers really had game they'd band together to out-build the Chinese instead of out-lobby ‘em.

Not for nothing, Tesla's Model Y has been the best-selling car on the planet three years running — 2023, 2024, and 2025 — outselling every Corolla, RAV4, and everything else on four wheels. Not bad for a vehicle that didn't exist five years ago.

Hmmm.

Keith's Investing Tip: Buy the best, ignore the rest — especially when it comes to manufacturing. The very best companies don't need “strategic intervention” to protect inferior products and business models.

5 – Calling all OBAers – it’s Issue Friday!!

If you’re part of the One Bar Ahead® Family you will know what the first Friday of the month means.... a packed new issue, new research, more education, more actionable information.

Keep your eye on your email as it will be landing a few hours from now!

Bottom Line

The world is reorganizing itself around themes and in ways that don’t respect Wall Street’s old categories which means that your profit potential is directly correlated to the ability to change your mind when presented with accurate information that contradicts your perception and your beliefs.

It won’t be easy nor will it be comfortable but, then again, change never is.

You got this — I promise.

As always, let’s MAKE it a great day and finish the week strong.

Keith 😀
